5120Abraham Giger was baptized 12 September 1619* into the Evangelish-Reformierte Kirche in Berneck, Vogtei Rheintal, Old Swiss Confederacy. His baptism record shows that his parents are 10240Hans Giger and 10241Anna Züstin, and that 5120Abraham was from nearby Haslach,1 a neighborhood about two kilometers northeast of the center of Berneck. For more information about the Evangelish-Reformierte Kirche in Berneck, see the description in 640Hans Ulrich Geiger's profile. Likewise, for Haslach, see 1280Abraham Geiger's profile.

Censuses in 1640 and 1643 list 5120Abraham alongside his widowed mother and two siblings and shows that they still lived in Haslach.2,3 The censuses also show that 5120Abraham knew his church's entire catechism3 and was in full communion.2,3

5120Abraham married 5121Elsbetha Fenckin, although the details of their marriage are unclear. A 1649 census describes 5120Abraham as caelebs (Latin for "unmarried"),4 although they apparently had married by the time their son Hans was baptized on 21 June 1650.5

1649: 5120Abraham is still in Haslach and seemingly unmarried. Full page.4

A 1652 census shows 5120Abraham, 5121Elsbetha, and their son Hans still in Haslach. Peculiarly positioned are two other names (Is "Barbara Fenckhin" one of the two?) who may be relatives.6

5120Abraham died 8 November 1673. His death record notes once again that he was from Haslach.7

Footnote:

*Three census records that I've cited on this page suggest that 5120Abraham was born circa 16213,4,6—in contrast to the abovenoted 1619 baptism record.1 It's plausible that 10240Hans and 10241Anna had an earlier son named Abraham who died in infancy or early childhood, and (as was common in those times) re-used the same name for their second baby boy, i.e. our 5120Abraham. If this were true, however, one might expect to find a second baptism record for an Abraham circa 1621, yet I haven't found one. Therefore, it seems more likely that the census records are simply mildly erroneous. Note that a fourth census suggests a birth circa 1620.2
