Cathrina Schelligin was baptized on 21 January 1688 in the Evangelish-Reformierte Kirche in Berneck, Vogtei Rheintal, Old Swiss Confederacy. Her baptism record shows that her parents are 2562Hans Schellig and 2563Verona Kallenburgerin, and that she was from nearby Langmoos, a neighborhood about two kilometers northeast of the center of Berneck.
Modern Langmoos consists of a restaurant and a few scattered buildings near the top of a hill that overlooks Berneck in northeastern Switzerland, just a few kilometers from the Austrian border. A panorama is below. For more information about the Evangelish-Reformierte Kirche in Berneck, see the description in 640Hans Ulrich Geiger's profile since that information won't be repeated here.
