Problem: Resolved
Who is 87Mary's father?

The will of 174Thomas B. Logue, dated 17 March 1864, explicitly identifies 87Mary as one of his children:4

However, this will is problematic because it identifies 87Mary by her maiden name Logue, even though she had married 86James Love in 1857.5 Therefore, one should seek additional evidence to confirm that 174Thomas' daughter Mary is the same woman named Mary who married 86James in 1857.

Fortunately, such evidence exists and is quite compelling: The 1860 census lists 174Thomas' and 86James' households one after the other, which implies they were living very close, probably next door to each other.2 Also notice that Mary's middle initial (F) is provided in both the 1850 and 1860 censuses, and her estimated age is consistent, too.1,2

Problem: Resolved
Who is 87Mary's mother?

87Mary's father 174Thomas B. Logue had married 175Sarah Melton in 1837.6

175Sarah seems to have died young, since 174Thomas married a different woman in 1846.7 Nevertheless, one can safely conclude that 174Thomas' children born between those two marriage dates (1837-1846) must have been born by his first wife 175Sarah. This would include 87Mary since she was born circa 1842.1,2

As explained above, 87Mary's mother died when 87Mary was still very young, perhaps just a baby. The 1850 shows her living with her father and step-mother in Hancock County.1

87Mary married 86James Love on 17 February 1857 in Emanuel County, Georgia.3 Using other records, we can deduce that she was about 15 years old, and he was about 27. For more information about their marriage, their lives together, etc., see his profile since that information won't be repeated here.

Frustratingly, I've been unable to find any record of 87Mary beyond the 1860 census.2 She is not named as an heir in her husband's estate records, so she probably died before he did. However, she very likely lived until at least 1864 or so, since his estate records show that he had four children,8 only two of whom had been born by 1860.2 She may or may not have been alive to learn of her father's death in a Civil War battle on 30 July 1864.
