Dellmann O. Hood's book The Tunis Hood Family on page 10 describes how the witnesses of the abovenoted baptisms are related to 3896Jasper, although I haven't bothered to confirm his information for myself.

The above-mentioned records prove that 3896Jasper had strong family ties in New York City, yet strangely he appears in no other records, even though the local government kept thorough records around this time. Dellmann Hood speculates on page 14 of his book, "It is evident from the New York records that Jasper Hood was away from home most of the time, probably on extended river and sea voyages. Good records of the early residents of New York City are available and have been examined, but Jasper Hood's name does not appear on any of them, hence it does not seem likely that he ever established a home there. It is possible that his wife and family lived with her parents."
