In 1773 he moved with his father (who unfortunately is not named in the record) from North Carolina to "Union dist[rict]," South Carolina.
In autumn 1784 he moved again to (what later became) Hancock County, Georgia and resided there for at least 13 years. (The record insinuates that he probably continued living there beyond 13 years.)
Did Below is an excerpt from Paul K. Graham, 1805 Georgia Land Lottery Persons Entitled to Draws (The Genealogical Company, Decatur, Georgia, 2005), page 565. As you can see, there were at least three men named William Turner in Hancock County at the time. I don't know which is our 220William Turner, nor how the other two Williams are related to our 220William. |
