2101626Robert de Cralle's very name suggests that he may have owned Cralle Place in Warbleton. Although I've found no contemporary evidence (other than his name) to prove that 2101626Robert owned this manor specifically, contemporary evidence does prove that he lived in the same general area: In 1352 he signed a document in Hellingly.1 He's also mentioned as an adjacent landowner to the west in two 1361 deeds involving land in Hooe.2,3Warbleton and Hellingly both lie not far west of Hooe, consistent with the three records noted.
The identity of 2101626Robert's wife is not especially clear, as explained below.
Problem:Unresolved Who is 2101626Robert's wife?
Below is an excerpt from a pedigree based on heraldic visitations in 1530 and 1633-1634.4
And now a pedigree based on a heraldic visitation in 1665-1666.5
These visitations—completed three centuries after 2101626Robert's death—constitute the only evidence that I've seen to prove that 2101626Robert's wife was Margaret Peplesham. Due to the lengthy interval between 2101626Robert's lifetime and these visitations, plus an apparent lack of more contemporary records to corroborate the claims, I'm not convinced that the claim is true. Admittedly, however, I have not researched this problem thoroughly. If you have relevant information, please contact me.
2101626Robert witnessed a deed on 20 May 13521 but had died by 30 November 1361.2
