183Mary "Polly" Chambers was born circa 1804 in Georgia.1 Her father is 366William Chambers, as explained on a separate page. Her mother may have been Martha Robertson, but this is uncertain, as also explained on the same separate page.

The earliest record I've found of 183Polly is her marriage record, which shows that she married 182Roderick Johnson-Sutton in Wilkinson County, Georgia on 4 April 1824.2

In 1830 her husband seems to have resided in militia district 332 (map), Wilkinson County,3 so 183Polly probably resided there, too.

After 1830, both 183Polly and her husband are strangely absent from records where one would expect to find her/them. Her whereabouts are unknown until 1849, when she re-surfaces as an apparent widow in a tax digest for Warren County, which shows that she owned 130 acres in militia district 151.4

The census the following year (1850) shows her family still in Warren County, and again suggests that she was a widow. Although not included in the excerpt below, the full census sheet notes that her 6 year-old son Henry was "Idiotic." Considering 183Polly's advanced age (40) when Henry was born,1 it's likely that he had Down syndrome, although this is merely an educated guess. Making arrangements for his care resulted in extra court records, which in turn helped me to prove that 183Mary had a daughter 91Elizabeth, as I've explained elsewhere.

The above 1850 census entry is the last record I've found of 183Polly. She probably died by 15 February 1856, when her daughter 91Elizabeth (rather than 183Polly herself) was notified by Warren County's Inferior Court of an upcoming trial to have her brother Henry committed to a lunatic asylum.5
