Problem: Unresolved
Where was 653Jane born?

According to Alvaretta Kenan Register's book Everett/Everitt Family: A Genealogical History on page 15, a Bible record documents that 653Jane was born in North Carolina.1

Two census records, however, document Georgia as her birth place.2,3

653Jane married 652Joshua Everitt in Bulloch County, Georgia on or about 7 October 1797.4 For more information about their marriage, their lives together, etc., see his profile since that information won't be repeated here. (Notably, though, unlike her husband, she does not appear on the March 1833 list of members of Lower Lotts Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Bulloch County.5)

After her husband's death in 1846,6 653Jane continued living in Bulloch County, at first with her (presumed son-in-law) Hampton Williams.2

In 1860, she was living all alone3 except for her 12 slaves.7 The census records her as "Jincey," apparently a nickname.

653Jane is buried in a small Everitt family Cemetery in Thomas County, Georgia.8 Although Bulloch County and Thomas County are far from each other, we know that Hampton Williams (with whom 653Jane had lived in 18502) had moved to Thomas County by 1860,9 and so had Josiah J. Everitt10 (probably one of the sons of her husband 652Joshua, as explained in 326John C. Everett's profile). One may guess that she moved so that her children could take better care of her during her final years, especially considering the food shortages and danger that plagued southeast Georgia during the Civil War years.
