In the Name of God Amen the 27th Day of Septbr 1756
I Rice price of North Carolina of New Hanover County planter.
Being Grown Anchent Butt of perfect Mind & Memory: Thanks be
Given unto God: Therefore calling unto mind the mortality of
my Body: & knowing that itt is apointed for all men once to Die
Do make & ordan this my Last will & Testament: that is to say
principaly & first of all, I Give & recommend my Soul into the
Hands of almighty God that Gave itt. and my Body I recommend
to the Earth to be Buried in Decent Christian burial att the Desare-
ation of my Executors nothing Doubting but at the General
Resurrection I shall recive the same again by the might power of
God: and as touching such Worldly Estate where with itt hath
pleased God to bless me in this Life I give Demise & Dispose of the same
in the following manor & form ——
Imprimis. I give & bequeath to Tomzin my Dearly beloved wife
all in my Reall & personill Estate of Lands Goods Debts & moveable
Effects & During her Living in the state of widdowood ——
and afterwards to go to my three sons in manner following —
Item to my son Richard price I give one Negro man Named peter
& one Feather Bed with furniture thereunto beloning: and
one third part of the plantion I now Live on: that part called
the old plantitaon — — —
Item: To my son James price I give one Negro man Named London
& one Negro Wench Named Debroath: & one Feath'red Bead
with furniture thereto beloning & one third part of the
plantation I now Live on Namly the Westward side where
my Dewling[?] Hous now stands — — — —
Item. To my son Edmond price: I give two Negros one Boy Named
Manull & one Negro Wench Named Bess: & one Feather
Bead with furniture thereto beloning - & one third part of
the plantation I now Live on Namly by the Eastermost part —
and For the true performance of this my Last will Constitute & ordain
my Dearly Beloved wife Tomzin & Richard Price my Executors —
Ratifying & Confirming this & no other to be my Last will & Testment
in Wittnes wherreof I have hereunto set my Hand & seal the Day & year

I've been unable to determine when the will was probated.

His "goods & chattles" were inventoried and appraised on 26 April 1758. An excerpt is below. The full record includes various livestock, axes, a grindstone, carpentry tools, saddles, a canoe, and other items.2


This excerpt from 528Rice's appraisal includes an old negro (worth £10) and 10 old hoes (worth 1 shilling each).2
