1949Rachel van Bunschoten was baptized into the Dutch Reformed Church of Kingston, New York on 22 December 1695. Her baptism record names her parents 3898Teunis Elissen and 3899Gerritje Gerrits.1

At the same church, she married 1948Jan Hoed on 27 October 1718.2 This seems to have been a "shotgun wedding" since the couple baptized their son Theunis just four months later.3 For more information on their lives together, etc., see her husband's profile since that information won't be repeated here.

After her husband's death in 1742, 1949Rachel is named in various court documents as she worked to settle her husband's estate, but her efforts were complicated by debts. 1949Rachel meanwhile relocated to Frederick County, Virginia, where she was sued by several people:

Date Summary Image Source
17 July 1744 Thomas Postgate sues 1949Rachel for £2 12s 6p for damages to his vegetable garden by her cows.
12 October 1744 William Griffith sues 1949Rachel for £4 1s 2p for damages to Griffith's property.
6 March 1745 Herman Richman sues 1949Rachel, described as the administratrix of 1948John Hood's estate, for collection of debt. This action was settled out of court, and the case was dismissed.

On 10 April 1746, 1949Rachel (still in Frederick County, Virginia) sold some land, perhaps to help resolve a debt related to her husband's estate.7 This transaction is the last record I've found pertaining to 1949Rachel.
