1050812Richard Chenny, son of 2101624Robert Cheyne, was born circa 1352. (He was 10 years old on 12 April 1362.1)

His father died when he was only about 10 years old. 1050812Richard and his younger brother Roger co-inherited manors at Shurland (later demolished and replaced with a newer structure, which is also now mostly destroyed) and Ufton. 1050812Richard was the sole heir of another manor at Patrixbourne.1

He married 1050813Margery Cralle by December 1374.2

A seal labeled Sigillum Ricardi Cheyne ("seal of Richard Cheyne") was affixed to a deed dated 24 October 1393. An illustration of the seal is below. Strangely, 1050812Richard isn't mentioned in an abstract of the deed.3 You'll notice a coat of arms in the middle of the seal; you can read more about these arms in: Paul A.
