On 7 December 1763, 860Joseph Doles of Southampton County, Virginia sold 90 acres of his land. The deed was co-signed by a woman named Sarah, presumably his wife.1


These two excerpts from a 1763 deed tell us that 860Joseph was from Southampton County, Virginia, and suggest that his wife was named Sarah. Full page.1

860Joseph wrote his will on 8 June 1774, and it was probated on 9 February 1786. It names a wife Sarah; daughters Olif (wife of Bailey Branch), Sarah (wife of 862John Summerell), Mary (wife of Stephen Andrews); and sons Benjamin, Arthur, and 430Jesse.2
