53Elizabeth was born circa 1829 in Georgia,1 probably in Hancock County (since her parents lived there for many years). Her parents were 106Jesse Carr and 107Lucinda Butts, as can be deduced from the 1850 and 1860 censuses.1,2 (Interesting side note: The full 1850 census page shows that 53Elizabeth was living next door to her future husband 52Josiah Collins.1)

1860: 53Elizabeth's family still in Hancock County. Full page.2

She married 52Josiah Collins in Hancock County on 23 September 1861.3 He was a widower and about 21 years older than she. For more information about their marriage, their lives together, etc., see his profile since that information won't be repeated here.

After her husband died in 1871,4 Elizabeth lived on as a widow. The last record I've found of her is the 1880 census. I don't know why her surname is given as "Duffy," since I've found no other indication that she re-married, but her age, location, and family relationships make clear that this is indeed the same woman.5
