51Minerva Blount was born circa 1843 in Georgia,1 probably in Twiggs County since her parents seem to have been living in Twiggs around that time.1,2 Although no record explicitly identifies 102William Blount and 103Morning Horne as her parents, we do have such a record for her younger sister Roxy Ann.3 Since 51Minerva is close in age to Roxy Ann (She's about three years older.), one can reasonably conclude that they almost certainly had the same parents.

Her father 102William seems to have died sometime in the 1840's. The 1850 and 1860 censuses show 51Minerva and her siblings with their mother 103Morning.1,4

She married 50Robert Oxley, a Confederate veteran, on 4 April 1867 in Pulaski County.5 For more information about their marriage, their lives together, etc., see his profile since that information won't be repeated here.

Sadly, her husband died sometime in the 1870's. The 1880 census shows 51Minerva as a widow with four young children and working as a family cook.6

Houston County's 1890 tax digest bears an entry for 51Minerva,7 but I have found no further record of her.
