30Barney died of lung cancer at noon on 16 June 1953. He's buried next to his wife in John Lay Cemetery, Ethridge, Lawrence County, Tennessee at coordinates N35.3257 W87.2956. His death certificate,11 obituary,12 and a photo of his grave2 are below.
