This transcription is from "Here Come the Douthits" page 18: In the Name of God Amen I John Douthit of Rowan County in The State of North Carolina being Sick & weak of body & of Perfect Mind & Memory Thanks be Given to God & Calling to Mind the Mortality of my body & that it is Appointed for all men once to Die Do Make and Ordain This to be My Last Will & Testament Principally & first of all I Give & Recommend my Soul into the hands of God that Gave it to me And my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a Decent Christian Like Manner at the Discression of My Executors Nothing Doubting but At the General Resurrection I shall Receive the Same again by the Almighty Power of God and as touching Such Worldly Goods as it hath Pleased God to bless me with I Give Demise & Despose of in Manner & Form as followeth Item I will & Desire that all My Just Debts be Paid first of all Item I will & bequeath unto My Wife Mary all my Stock & house hold goods & All implements belonging to the Plantation & Negroes During her widowhood but if she marry then to be Devided Equally amongst My Children She keeping her third Only Item I will & bequeath unto My Son Abraham two hundred acres of Land Adjoining Wm Douthits line & Valentine Frys line I Will & bequeath Unto My Son Jacob Douthit Too Hundred & Forty Acres The Remainder of the Whole tract including the improvements & buildings I Give & bequeath five Shillings Specia to Each of My Children that is maried Elizabeth John Mary William Thomas Isaac & Sarah & my Daughter in Law Mary to be Paid to them by My Executors I Desire that James Douthit Children Ann John & James have an Equal Part with my Children at My Wifes Death Item I Constitute and Appoint My beloved wife Mary & my Son Thomas Douthit Executrix and Executor of this My Last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal This Twenty Eighth Day of December 1782 Signed Sealed & Published & Pronounced In the Presence of [his mark] [seal] John Frits Christopher Ellrod James Wilson
