In a certain inquisition, made by the archdeacon of Canterbury, about the right of patronage of the parish church of Bocton Malherbe, amongst other things it is so said. In addition, the aforesaid inquisition said that Stephen Betenham ... ... of the parish church of Bocton Malherbe, aforesaid, on this occasion is the true patron by reason of Benedicta, wife of the same Stephen, to whom the manor of Throughley with a certain rent of 40s in the same parish, together with the alternative advowson of the aforesaid church of Bocton Malherbe, after the decease of Joan de Apulderfeld, mother of the same Benedicta, pertains by right of inheritance in the present, just as from certain muniments, brought into the middle, about and concerning the division of the manors of Throughly, Bocton Malherbe and Wormesall, made between the aforesaid Joan, mother of the said Benedicta, and Elizabeth and Benedicta, sisters of the same, it is manifestly clear and pending; and that Robert Corby, on his successive occasion, lastly presented to the same church of Bocton the said lord John Drew, lastly deceased, by reason of the manor of Bocton Malherbe, to which manor the right of presenting on the successive occasion pertains. This inquisition was made on 14th day of March in the year 1412.
