Note: I'd like to extend special thanks to researcher Jared Nathan for sharing his work pertaining to 65675Agnes.

65675Agnes Sandes, daughter of 131350William Sandes and 131351Elizabeth at Towne, was born roughly circa 1450, as explained below.

Problem: Resolved
Who were 65675Agnes' parents?

131350William Sandes had married 131351Elizabeth (daughter of 262702Thomas of Throwley) by 1440,1 and they were still married in 1473.2

When 131350William wrote his will in 1473, he mentioned his daughter 65675Agnes, who wasn't yet married but apparently of marriageable age (since 131350William disposed of some land specifically with her marriage in mind, as shown in the excerpt below).2 Therefore, we can guess that 65675Agnes was born roughly circa 1450. We also know that 65675Agnes' future husband 65674William Bettenham was born by 1448;3 their similar ages helps to affirm that 65675Agnes was born circa 1450.

From 131350William's will (translated from Latin): "[...] the aforesaid manor of Trulegh after her death, and also the field of land next to Brokdale, lately purchased there from Richard Ulffe of Feversham, aforesaid, are to be sold by the discretion of the aforesaid Elizabeth and Reginald, and the price thereof received be disposed towards the marriage of Agnes my daughter [...]." Full page.2

Since 131350William and 131351Elizabeth had married well before 65675Agnes was born, and remained married until 131350William's death, and since 131350William explicitly describes 65675Agnes as his daughter, one therefore can conclude that 131351Elizabeth is 65675Agnes' mother.

The evidence presented above is strong (and sufficient), but the 1574 heraldic visitation of Kent provides further affirmation:4

Although heraldic visitations aren't necessarily reliable, other "nearby" claims in the above pedigree can be proven with contemporary evidence: 131350William Sandes did in fact have a wife named 131351Elizabeth and children named Benedicta, 65675Agnes, and Reginald.2 131351Elizabeth was in fact the daughter of 262702Thomas of Throwley.1 Benedicta was in fact married to Richard Martyn.5 Elizabeth (Reginald's wife) did in fact have a son Robert and grandson Anthony.6 In light of these substantiated claims, the visitation's other claims (most importantly regarding 65675Agnes' parents) seem more trustworthy.

65675Agnes married 65674William Bettenham sometime after 18 November 1473, as explained in his profile.

65675Agnes is mentioned in her husband's will, which is dated 13 January 1492/3.7 After his death, 65675Agnes apparently re-married to John Swofham; a 1495 court record mentions them together as the executors of 65674William Bettenham's estate.8
