467Lovey White Cooper was born in Caroline County, Maryland on 5 August 1775.1 Her father 934Thomas Cooper mentioned 467Lovey in his will dated 20 August 1789.2 The will also mentions a wife named Tahpenes, who could have been 467Lovey's mother, but I can't be certain since I have no record to prove when 934Thomas and Tahpenes married.

These excerpts from 934Thomas Cooper's will prove that he's 467Lovey's father. Full page.2

467Lovey married 466William Douthit, as proven by a Stokes County, North Carolina marriage bond dated 29 January 1797.3 For more information about their marriage, their lives together, etc., see his profile since that information won't be repeated here.

467Lovey is buried in a small, brick-walled Douthit family cemetery atop a steep hill at coordinates N34.1161 W84.8205. Sadly, the cemetery is quite overgrown (despite my occasional visits to clean it up), and as a result 467Lovey's grave is barely visible most of the time, obscured by branches, vines, and muddy clay. Around 2012 I washed away enough of the mud to reveal the full inscription, which reads:4

SACRED
to the memory of
MRS. LOVEY W. DOUTHIT,
who departed this life
April 23rd, A.D. 1857
aged ___ years and 8 months

Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord
[Yea] saith the spirit that
they may rest from their labours and
their works do follow them.

A few photos of her grave are below.4

As you can see in the photo below, the text that states 467Lovey's age has been ruined by tree roots and is no longer legible. It probably said 81 years. Part of the "1" and what seems to be part of the "8" are visible.

Perhaps the archivist accidentally forgot to copy the front side.
