2562Hans Schellig's father is 5124Damian Schellig.1,2 His mother is likely 5124Damian's wife Cathrina Manshuberin, although this cannot be proven incontrovertibly with the available evidence. 2562Hans was born roughly circa 1664.*

Censuses show 2562Hans in 1671 and 1682 with his parents and siblings in Langmoos, a small neighborhood about two kilometers northeast of the center of Berneck, Vogtei Rheintal, Old Swiss Confederacy. Since these two censuses were religious censuses (specifically, focused on catechesis), we can infer that 2562Hans and his family were members of the Evangelish-Reformierte Kirche in Berneck. For more information on this church, see the description in 640Hans Ulrich Geiger's profile. For Langmoos, see the description in 1281Cathrina's profile.

1671: 2562Hans' household in Langmoos near Berneck, Vogtei Rheintal, Old Swiss Confederacy. 2562Hans is in the "catechumen" column here. Full page.1

1682: 2562Hans' household still in Langmoos. 2562Hans is now in the "communicant" column. Full page.2

2562Hans married 2563Verona Kallenburgerin probably in 1685 or so, since their oldest known child, son Johannes (of Langmoos), was baptized on 20 February 1686.3 Their second child, daughter 1281Cathrina (of Langmoos), was baptized 21 January 1688.4

As expected, we find the young family still in Langmoos in 1694. In the census record, also notice Felix, age 25,5 who is presumably 2562Hans' younger brother and the same Felix as shown in the 16711 and 16822 census entries copied above; his presence here helps to affirm 2562Hans' identity.

1694: 2562Hans' family in Langmoos. Full page.5

The aboveshown 1694 census is the last record I've found of 2562Hans. Although a 1710 census included Berneck, I see no subsection for Langmoos.

Footnote:

*2562Hans was old enough to be a catechumen under his parents in 16711 and a communicant in 1682.2 Felix, who seems to be 2562Hans' second younger brother (i.e., another child was born after 2562Hans and before Felix),1,2 was born circa 1669.4 Thus, estimating 2562Hans' birth circa 1664 seems reasonable.
