17Alice married her first cousin 16George W. Knight in Washington County on 29 July 1894. For more information about their marriage, their lives together, etc., see 16his profile since those details won't be repeated here.

17Alice died from nephritis (kidney disease) on 31 January 1930.2

17 Alice's death certificate

She's buried beside her husband at Midway Church Cemetery in Treutlen County, Georgia at coordinates N32.44111 W82.58975. The tombstone records her name as Mary Alice Knight, but I have found no other record that shows her first name as Mary.6

17 Alice's grave

As you can see, the groundstone has no inscription, and the headstone looks comparatively new (as does her husband's headstone). I later learned that their grandson Billy Knight (son of 8Bryant), wanting to ensure that his grandparents' graves were properly identified and remembered, commissioned headstones and had them placed at the graves decades after their deaths. Unfortunately, Billy was unable to remember/distinguish 16George's grave from 17Alice's, so the headstones' locations may actually be inverted.7
